Great SDS Plus Roto Hammer

Can't Fail! I've been very surprised to determine that nobody has reviewed this Makita HR2811F yet. I am a big fan of the Bosch hammers and in the SDS Plus class, I really like the Bosch Bull Dog for it's durability, performance, and price. I decided to try one of these Makita's and i am glad I did. The HR2811F provides extensive power, is lightweight and does the job quickly without beating the operator to death. It's full functionalities from the Bosch and more. The light is really a nice also in low light and dark places also it even has a reverse that can prove useful if you get a little stuck. It drills through concrete fast and blasts through chipping mortar and light chipping of concrete, bricks and tile. Put a Bosch tile chisel with it and you can remove tile in a hurry. It isn't for big jobs, but when you have a big job, you need to simply obtain a bigger hammer! I think it's a great SDS Plus hammer that you won't be disappointed with. I'm not sure how durable it's yet, but I have had good luck with Makita tools previously. I have some Makita power tools over 3 decades old but still going strong!

good but not great!

Drills in concrete like drilling in foam plastic...Does it perfectly. Includes nice case. Uses standard fluted rotary hammer bits also produced by other manufactures. However, the depth gauge slips and may cause someone to drill too deep. Must rotate grip handle revisit case..a clumsy affair caused by poor design. Their Might be better choices.

Great drill; handle design is weak

Drills holes in concrete very well and very fast. Nice light; simple to handle. The LED is extremely handy if you are working in a murky basement corner. The drill works and feels as being a bigger Hilti.

My only complaint may be the handle. It's mostly plastic and comfortably ergonomic, but somewhat flimsy. Doesn't stay tight if used for a long period. I would buy the tool again though, handle notwithstanding.
