Bosch 11263EVS 1-3/4-Inch SDS-Max Rotary Hammer Reviews:

A powerful performer - but controllable
By Martin Taylor (Ellicott City, Maryland USA)
This can be a great product and the prices are right. In two months, we've used it for from 1/2" quick holes (it goes about 2-3x as fast as our SDS-plus HILTI drill with the same diameter bit) to 4" core holes in pebbled-concrete. We drilled one 4" core through 16 inches of this kind of concrete in 7 minutes yesterday. It does a fantastic job - very similar to the SDS-Max Hilti drills rented in your own home Depot / Lowes. This drill is heavy to make use of overhead but manageable, and it is a joy to use downwards. The jackhammer feature will work for light to medium duty work, and conveniently allows you to rotate the bit around. Overall, we love to it greatly and would definitely buy it again.

Much less big, much less small

Bought this from Amazon to be used around our ranch. I be prepared to use it mostly for digging in our heavy clay soil but have already had some drilling and chipping work that I've required to do. It's been a great tool for that great price I acquired. Reading reviews for other Bosch rotary hammers, I decided 11263EVS was the best "hybrid" size for my use. It's large and powerful enough to do the digging and demo work that I'm going to be doing most frequently but no too big for occasional overhead use (and that i didn't want to spend anymore). If you are doing a Large amount of one sort of work, you may want to think about a rotary hammer that's bigger or smaller.

Complaints that keep me from rating at 5 stars:

1. Handle and trigger ergonomics. I have a hard time carrying the tool without switching it on--my hands are too big to fit within the smaller handle opening and it's hard to not switch it on when carrying through the larger handle.

2. It's a variable speed tool however the trigger is on/off; you adjust the rate with a dial on the side. Perhaps this is the way they are all designed (I've not compared) nevertheless its an annoyance, however minor.

To date so good

Just began to make use of this thing so little to express yet. It breaks hard things when you want it to, it drills holes in hard things when you wish it to, What can I say it will what it's designed to do, it's quiter and lighter compared to old one that this one replaces. Let see if it lastes so long as that one did (30+ years).
