The Bosch 11263EVS SDS-max combination hammer features 2 modes of operation - rotary hammer or hammer-only and is a heavy-hitter with 9.6-Feet-Pound of impact energy in drilling mode and 1.1-Feet-Pound in chiseling turbo mode. The SDS-max bit system allows tool-free bit changes with automatic bit locking, dust protection and maximum impact energy transfer rate. This variable speed dial provides the user accurate bit starting and controlled chipping applications while constant response circuitry provides soft-start, maintains constant speed under load, provides overload protection. The turbo power feature delivers 20-Percent more power in hammer only mode. As with many Bosch hammers, a service minder light indicates when preventative maintenance is required. Vario-Lock positioning rotates and locks chisel into 12 different positions to optimize working angle while a 360-Degree auxiliary handle supplies a wide range of movement along with operator comfort. The soft grip rear handle absorbs shock and vibration for operator comfort and less fatgue.

Bosch 11263EVS 1-3/4-Inch SDS-Max Rotary Hammer Testimonials

By Martin Taylor (Ellicott City, Maryland USA)
This can be a great product and also the prices are right. In 2 months, we've tried on the extender for from 1/2" quick holes (it goes about 2-3x as fast as our SDS-plus HILTI drill with the same diameter bit) to 4" core holes in pebbled-concrete. We drilled one 4" core through 16 inches of the kind of concrete in 7 minutes yesterday. It does a great job - very comparable to the SDS-Max Hilti drills rented at Home Depot / Lowes. This drill is heavy to make use of overhead but manageable, and it is a joy to use downwards. The jackhammer feature will work for light to medium duty work, and conveniently allows you to rotate the part around. Overall, we like it very much and would definitely buy it again.

Bought this from Amazon to be used around our ranch. I be prepared to use it mostly for digging in our heavy clay soil but have previously had some drilling and chipping work that I've needed to do. It's been an excellent tool for the great price I got. Reading reviews for other Bosch rotary hammers, I made a decision 11263EVS was the best "hybrid" size for my use. It's large and powerful enough to complete the digging and demo work that I'll be doing most frequently but no too large for occasional overhead use (and that i didn't want to spend any more). If you're carrying out a LOT of one type of work, you might want to consider a rotary hammer that's bigger or smaller.

Complaints that keep me from rating at 5 stars:

1. Handle and trigger ergonomics. I have a hard time carrying the tool without switching it on--my hands are extremely big to suit in the smaller handle opening and it is hard not to switch it on when carrying through the larger handle.

2. It's a variable speed tool but the trigger is on/off; you adjust the rate having a dial quietly. Perhaps this is one way they're all designed (I haven't compared) nevertheless its an annoyance, however minor.
