Bare-Tool Makita BHR202Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 7/8-Inch SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer (Tool Only, No Battery) Buyer's Guide:
great portable rotary hammer
By StevieQ (Castro Area, CA United States)
This particular Makita LXT 18v Li-on D-handle rotary hammer has 1.9 joules (or even 1.Four ft*lb) of impact energy from up to Four thousand hits each minute. By comparison, Makita's attached edition has 2.7 joules (or 2.0 ft*lb) associated with impact energy from as much as 4500 hits each minute, making the actual cord-less version regarding 70% as effective because the attached version, that isn't bad. I can't grumble because the trade-off for portability is power and speed.
I purchased this cord-less rotary hammer specifically in order to exercise 5/8" holes within cement to create anchor bolts with regard to my personal deck's footings. I'm able to drill each 5/8" pit up to 6" heavy in a moment or two, but it drains the battery at a fairly fast clip. My tough remembrance is that it can only drill at most Two from the 6"-deep, 5/8" size holes prior to the electric battery needs re-charging. Based on my personal experience with the 5/8" openings, I have without doubt it's capable of drilling as much as 7/8" holes.
I also utilized a 1" chisel bit onto it and it worked truly quick to chip concrete to create the footings. All in all, I'm happy with this buy despite the short battery life.
Handy, Useful, Useful!!
Through Lazerus
This can be a GREAT portable device.
We Often 'm having to exercise in to Masonry in industrial structures. I use this tool very often, i'm able to auger 1/4 inch holes via a feet associated with brickwork while keeping this
unit with one give my mind.
I love the job light, and the simplicity of use of the device. Be aware that the electric battery holder comes with a shock absorber feet built in, so initially it might look like bad architectural. It's designed to preserve battery from surprise loads in the tool, and it performs this well.
It is not designed for repetative big size drilling. It is Ideal for tapcons, and positioning the sporadic pit through masonry. It will drill big diameter holes too, however it may chew via batteries rapidly. You can perhaps do 2 or 3 7/8" holes 8" deep before your will overheat/wear down the electric battery.
I am inclined to be able to exercise about 10-15 big tapcon openings, and bore Two openings for cabling (3/8") via wall space prior to i have to swap the battery. When utilizing it i suggest having a 2nd electric battery on the charger ready to go, if you think you will do much more function compared to i have described.
The portability is certainly well worth the sacrifice from the cord.
Overview:
If you are positioning footings all day long, get a corded MAKITA.
If you are getting around alot, and do gentle masonry work, or chipping / floor tile etc. This will be an incredible addition for your Makita tool set.
